In Memoriam: Katherine “Minnie” McCarron

February 17, 1935 – February 9, 2026

The Louisiana Life Safety & Security Association honors the life and legacy of Katherine “Minnie” McCarron, who passed peacefully on February 9, 2026, at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. She was 90 years old, just days shy of her ninety-first birthday.

Born in New Orleans on February 17, 1935, Minnie was raised in the Lower Garden District and carried a lifelong love for the city and its people. She was a woman of discipline, integrity, and quiet strength—qualities that defined both her personal life and her professional career.

Minnie devoted thirty-eight years to Tulane Medical Center as a Medical Research Technologist, where she brought precision, curiosity, and dedication to her scientific work. After retiring from her career in medical research, she began a second professional chapter in the security industry, serving at Security Supply, Inc. and later at Security Pro Warehouse in Metairie. There, she worked alongside her daughter and son-in-law, supporting security and life safety professionals throughout the region.

In her years within the industry, Minnie became a familiar and respected presence among dealers, installers, and suppliers. She understood the importance of the work being done—protecting lives and property—and took pride in serving those who served the public. Whether assisting customers, supporting operations, or helping family in business, she brought the same steadfast reliability and professionalism that marked her earlier career.

Beyond her professional contributions, Minnie was deeply committed to service. A faithful parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, she served as president of the Hilltoppers and the Parish Council and was active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Tulane University Women’s Association. In 2004, she received the St. Louis Award in recognition of her dedicated parish service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Mac” Murray McCarron, Sr., and her son, Charles “Chuck” McCarron, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine “Kat” Brown of Metairie; her grandsons, great-granddaughter, extended family members, and many friends whose lives she touched through both her work and her faith.

Minnie’s life reflected quiet leadership, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering devotion to family and community. Those in the Louisiana life safety and security industry who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her as steady, thoughtful, and proud of the role she played in supporting this profession.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Metairie. A reception will follow.

The LLSSA extends its heartfelt condolences to her family and all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of service—both to her faith community and to the security industry—will not be forgotten.
