The Louisiana Life Safety & Security Association (LLSSA) is proud to announce Emily Brouillette of Hammond High Magnet School as the First-Place recipient of the 2026 LLSSA Youth Scholarship Award. Emily was awarded a $2,500 scholarship in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement, leadership, character, and commitment to serving her community.

The LLSSA Scholarship Program was established to support students who demonstrate integrity, service, and leadership — values that strengthen families, communities, and the professions dedicated to protecting them. Emily’s application reflected each of these qualities in a meaningful and memorable way.

Emily’s scholarship essay especially resonated with the selection committee through its thoughtful reflection on quiet leadership and the lasting impact of everyday service. Drawing inspiration from her father’s consistent commitment to family and community, Emily described leadership not as recognition or attention, but as “showing up every time, without fail.” Her words captured the spirit of responsibility, dependability, and service that the LLSSA strives to encourage in future professionals and community leaders across Louisiana.

The committee was equally impressed by Emily’s ability to connect those life lessons to her own experiences through school organizations, rehearsals, performances, and volunteer activities. Her essay demonstrated maturity, gratitude, and a strong sense of purpose that distinguished her among an outstanding group of applicants.

In addition to her leadership and service, Emily has maintained exceptional academic performance at Hammond High Magnet School, earning an impressive 3.94 GPA. She plans to continue her education at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she will pursue her future goals and continue building upon the values that earned her this recognition.
